Will,

It is my understanding that you have some hot-dog carts ready for inspection. I assume these are part of the 15 carts included under files FS FAP-2009-000280 through FS FAP 2009-000294. Is this correct?

Recap
During the file review last summer it was made clear that all components, including propane hose assemblies, need to be approved. The normal process is to use certified components. However, for this job special permission was granted which allowed Willy Dog to assembly your own propane hose assemblies for the purpose of them being install on these carts. A condition for this exception, was the pressure test as outlined in the CSA-8.3 certification standard would have to be witnessed by a representative of TSSA. This testing requires the hose assembly to be submerged under water. This was communicated to you in an email on June 5, 2009 and again in my approval letter dated June 26, 2009.

Since TSSA is not approving these hoses as a stand along component but rather as a component of the cart, TSSA will need to witness this pressure testing of these hose assemblies when the cart is being inspected for the final approval. This process easy to manage. If you have the hose assemblies ready for testing at the time the TSSA inspector arrives it can be witnessed as the first order of business. If successful, the hose(s) can be assembled on the cart(s) and the rest of the inspection / testing will be conducted. Since you have made these carts before the length of hose assembly should be know. The extra steps to test these hose assemblies should not take any longer than 1/2 hour.

Alternatively you can purchased certified hose assemblies.  <---------WTF!!

(REALLY! ARE YOU TELLING A MANUFACTURER HOW TO RUN THEIR BUSINESS YOU RED-TAPER?)

Once your ready for an inspection / testing of the hot-dog carts, please contact me directly to arrange a site visit.
